HOUSTON – Plating eight runs during the fifth inning of Saturday's game at Houston Baptist, the Northeastern baseball team came roaring back from its 6-1 deficit to notch its first victory of the 2019 season, scoring five runs during the final two innings to earn the 14-8 win at Husky Field.
Â
After being denied a base hit through four innings, Northeastern (1-1) brought 14 batters to the plate during its wild fifth-inning rally that witnessed

Jeff Costello registered multiple hits as well out of the ninth spot in the NU batting order, belting the two-RBI single that brought Northeastern within a run of Houston Baptist (1-1) at 6-5 during the fifth inning.
Â
Brian Rodriguez delivered four scoreless innings in relief of Northeastern starter
Brandon Dufault, who collected three outs from 12 batters faced and was responsible for six runs (five earned).
Tom Githens and
Andrew Misiaszek carried the NU pitching staff the remainder of the way with Misiaszek posting his 19th career save.
