NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Freshman Alina Mueller notched her first collegiate four-point game to help the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team overcome three separate one-goal deficits in a 4-4 tie at Merrimack on Saturday at Lawler Rink.

With the result, Northeastern finished the regular season with a 23-5-5 overall record and a 21-3-3 mark in Hockey East play. The Huskies will be the No. 1 seed in the Hockey East playoffs and will face Vermont in a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Matthews Arena starting Friday, March 1 at 5 p.m.

After being named a Patty Kazmaier top-10 finalist earlier in the week, Mueller produced a vintage performance with two goals – including the game-tying strike with 4:53 remaining – and two assists to help the Huskies earn a point.

The Winterthur, Switzerland native opened the scoring for Northeastern at 11:01 of the first period with a twisted wrister from between the circles to cancel out Felila Manu's early goal for Merrimack (16-11-7, 12-10-5 WHEA).

Senior Tori Sullivan then gave Northeastern a 2-1 lead, redirecting a Mueller shot past Merrimack netminder Samantha Ridgewell (42 saves) just 29 seconds into the second stanza.

Goals by Chloe Cook and Katelyn Rae late in the frame gave the Warriors a 3-2 advantage through 40 minutes, but again Northeastern found a way to battle back.

Senior Kasidy Anderson tipped another Mueller shot past Ridgewell at 9:47 of the third period to tie the game, and after Paige Voight re-established the lead for the hosts, Mueller knotted the proceedings once again with a redirection of her own following a Paige Capistran shot.

Sullivan and Anderson finished with two points each as both players upped their collegiate point totals to 97 points. Sophomore Brooke Hobson also tallied a multi-point effort with two assists, while sophomore Skylar Fontaine added an assist to get on the scoresheet for the 11th time in the last 12 games.

Sophomore Aerin Frankel stopped 21 shots, including a highlight-reel robbery on Rae in the closing seconds of overtime to preserve the tie.
