Women’s Hockey Announces Six Incoming Freshmen

BOSTON— Northeastern women's hockey head coach Dave Flint has announced the signing of six freshmen ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The Huskies will welcome Soren Biderman, Tess Martin, Lilly McInerney,  Adéla Pánková, Ava Scannell and Ivana Wey.

The six-member class consists of four forwards, one defenseman and one goaltender. The newcomers hail from four different countries.

"We're really excited to welcome this group to the program," remarked Flint. "This is a class that checks every box for us, both on the ice and off of it. The six freshmen are very versatile and will slot in to many different situations for us. We feel great about what they're going to add to our locker room and can't wait to get them going with the whole team."

Soren Biderman

  • Silver medalist at the Ontario Summer Games (2023)
  • Member of Team Ontario camp (2022-26)
 
Tess Martin
Position: Defenseman
Hometown: Minnetonka, Minnesota
High School: Shattuck-St. Mary's
Club: Shattuck-St. Mary's
  • Four-year member of the Shattuck-St. Mary's program
  • Played two years for U16 team and two years for prep team
Lilly McInerney
Position: Forward
Hometown: North Reading, Massachusetts
High School: Phillips Academy Andover
Club: Phillips Academy Andover
  • Four-year member and senior captain of the Phillips Academy Andover
  • NEPSAC Class A finalist in 2023 and 2025
  • Selected for USA Hockey U15 National Development Camp
  • Competed with Valley Jr. Warriors (U12-U19) 
Adéla Pánková
Position: Forward
Hometown: Soběslav, Czech Republic
High School: North Catholic
Club: Pittsburgh Pens Elite
  • Member of Pittsburgh Pens Elite and Czech Republic U18 Team
  • Gold medalist at the 2026 Winter Youth Olympic Games
  • Silver medalist at the IIHF Women's U18 World Championship
  • Two-time bronze medalist at the IIHF Women's U18 World Championship (2024, 2025)
  • Previously played boys' Extra League hockey in the Czech Republic with HC Tábor and OLH Spartak Soběslav
Ava Scannell
Position: Goaltender
Hometown: Arlington, Massachusetts
High School: Milton Academy
Club: Milton Academy
  • Four-year member and captain of the Milton Academy
  • All-NEPSAC honoree (2025-26)
  • Two-time state tournament champion with Boston Jr. Eagles
  • Played for Valley Jr. Warriors (2022-25)
Ivana Wey
Position: Forward
Hometown: Davos, Switzerland
High School: Schweizerisches Sportgymnasium Davos
Club: EV Zug
  • Olympic bronze medalist at the 2026 Winter Olympics with Switzerland
  • Swiss champion (2026) and two-time Swiss Women's Cup champion (2025, 2026) with EV Zug
  • Represented Switzerland at two IIHF Women's U18 World Championships and two IIHF Women's World Championships
  • Member of the EV Zug Women's Team for the past three seasons
  • Previously played for HC Davos in junior leagues, competing with the boys' program through age 17
