BOSTON
– On Saturday, March 2, the Northeastern men's soccer team will be departing on the program's first-ever foreign tour as the Huskies set out on their week-long global experience in Europe, during which NU will spend three full days in both London, England, and Rome, Italy.

In addition to competing in three exhibition matches against local competition, the Huskies' eventful itinerary includes visits to both cities' iconic historical landmarks and a wide array of experiential learning opportunities.

Northeastern will fly across the pond during the evening of March 2, arriving in London to greet the morning of Sunday, March 3. Among the team's immediate destinations, the Huskies will observe the English Premier League fixture between Chelsea FC and Fulham FC at Craven Cottage.

On Monday, March 4, Northeastern will take in lessons of English history and royalty upon visiting The House of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, among other sites. The Huskies will conclude the day with their first of three exhibition matches against a local London side.

Remaining in London on Tuesday, March 5, Northeastern will depart for a morning tour of Emirates Stadium, the home ground of Arsenal FC. From there, the Huskies will transition back into match preparation as NU will close its stay in London with its second exhibition match against local competition.

Northeastern will fly across Europe on Wednesday, March 6, to Rome, where the second part of the Huskies' foreign tour will commence. After deplaning, NU will set out to take in Italian culture by visiting the iconic Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona.

On Thursday, March 7, Northeastern will sample ancient history upon visiting the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The Huskies will make their way back to the pitch during the afternoon to contest their third and final exhibition against a local Italian opponent.

Northeastern will dive into a unique cultural experience on Friday, March 8, when the Huskies set out for a handmade pasta and tiramisu tutorial. NU will also be participating in a nearby community service project before concluding its tour on Saturday, March 9, by exploring Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica.

ABOUT THE NORTHEASTERN ATHLETICS GLOBAL EXPERIENCE FUND

As a university where teaching and research are grounded in global engagement, Northeastern's impact is being felt in all corners of the world. The general student body shapes the world through experiential learning opportunities with nearly 3,100 partners on seven continents. For varsity student-athletes, however, the demands of a grueling NCAA Division I schedule sometimes provide challenges for those wishing to explore the world during their time at Northeastern.

The purpose of this fund is to provide the athletic director the ability to provide financial assistance to individual athletes or teams when organizing a competitive, educational, or community service global experience, which is defined as any trip outside of the United States.

This trip to England and Italy was made possible through donations to the Global Experience Fund, and for that, the student-athletes and staff are incredibly grateful. With your continued support, Northeastern Athletics hopes to continue to create these opportunities for future generations of Huskies as well.
