(Details at the bottom)
The two teams will square off in a rematch of last season's CAA Championship game. Northeastern enters on a five-game win-streak while the Cougars have won three-straight.
Here is what you need to know about Monday's game:
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- Quick Hits
- A win would move NU on to the CAA Championship for the second-straight season and third time in the last five years
- With one more block, Anthony Green will move into a tie for seventh all-time on the NU Career blocks list (more on page 4)
- Vasa Pusica is just one point shy of Scott Eatherton's record 1,021 point total for two-year players at NU (more on page 3)
- Jordan Roland is five treys shy of tying the Northeastern single season record (97) set by David Walker in the 2015-16 season (more on page 3)
- A familiar foe
- Charleston enters Monday night's game on a three-game win-streak including a 73-61 victory over Drexel in the CAA Quarterfinals last night
- The Cougars have now won 10 of their last 12 heading into their game with the Huskies
- Charleston is 24-8 overall, and 14-2 in the cities of Charleston/N. Charleston this season
LEADING THE WAY
- The two-headed snake of Charleston junior guard Grant Riller and Jarrell Brantley lead the way for the Cougars
- Riller leads the team with a 22.3 ppg average while also dishing out 130 assists this season while senior forward Jarrell Brantley has added 19.4 ppg and 8.3 rpg this season
- Brevin Galloway adds 7.8 ppg to the starting lineup
ALL-TIME SERIES
- This will be the 14th meeting between the two teams in a series that Charleston barely leads 7-6, since it began in the 2013-14 season
- The two teams have split the season series in four of the previous five seasons with the Huskies coming away with a sweep in the 2014-15 campaign
- The Huskies are looking for a win in regulation tonight as they have fallen to the Cougars the three times they faced them in overtime
LAST TIME VS. CHARLESTON
- The Huskies connected on a season-high 15 three-pointers, but came up just short in an 88-79 overtime setback at Charleston
- Vasa Pusica led the Huskies with 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, while Bolden Brace added a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds
- Charleston's Grant Riller led all scorers with 33 points, including 10 in overtime, as the Cougars outscored the Huskies by a 19-10 margin during the extra session
- Jarrell Brantley was the only other Charleston player in double-figures as he added 27 points and 11 rebounds
- Northeastern led 38-36 at halftime and pulled out to a 10-point lead on a Pusica three, 48-38, with 14:09 to play
- The Cougars turned the tides with a 13-0 run to claim a 55-52 lead with 7:24 remaining
- With Charleston ahead 69-65 with one minute to go in regulation, the Huskies battled back to force OT on two clutch free throws by Anthony Green (10 points) and a tying layup by Jordan Roland with 29 seconds on the clock
- Get that outta here
- Senior Anthony Green has swatted away 95 of his opponents shot attempts during his four year career at NU
- That number ranks eighth all-time among Husky shotblockers entering the final two games of the regular season
