RICHMOND, Va. – As the catalyst behind the Northeastern women's basketball team's extraordinary success during the regular season, senior point guard Jess Genco has been named to the 2018-19 All-CAA First Team, as announced by the league during its Postseason Award Show on Tuesday.

Upon her selection, Genco becomes the Huskies' first player to garner multiple All-CAA First Team accolades during her career, having achieved the same distinction as a junior during the 2017-18 campaign. She also becomes the fourth Northeastern player to collect multiple all-conference First Team selections during program history, joining the company of Carrine Jones (North Atlantic Conference, 1992-94), Katasha Artis (North Atlantic Conference, 1993-95) and Tesha Tinsley (America East, 1997-2000).

Hauling in Preseason All-CAA First Team consideration in October, Genco played beyond expectations during the 2018-19 regular season, leading the conference with six 30-point scoring games and co-leading it with four CAA Player of the Week honors, plus one Honorable Mention nod.

Northeastern's pacemaker ranked among the top three CAA players this season in points (17.3), assists (4.4) and steals (1.9) per game while attaining the fourth best assist-turnover ratio in the league (1.34). As of March 11, she led the conference and ranked nationally among the top 10 Division I players in both free throw percentage (92.9) and minutes per game (38.0).

Genco was particularly lethal behind the arc, where she paced the CAA in 3-point field goals per game (2.8) and boasted the fourth highest 3-point field goal percentage, hitting 39.2 percent of her perimeter attempts. She knocked down six or more 3-point baskets during five occasions, twice setting the Huskies' single-game 3-point record – first on Nov. 28 at Florida (eight) then again, four games later on Dec. 15 at Providence (nine).

Considered by many to be one of the program's greatest student-athletes, Genco has already etched her name across the Northeastern women's basketball record book. She enters the 2019 CAA tournament as the Huskies' all-time record holder in career games started (119), minutes played (4,562), assists (531) and made 3-point field goals (291) while currently ranking fourth on the program's career scoring list (1,511 points).

A proven leader, Genco was a finalist for the prestigious 2018-19 Dean Ehlers Leadership and Sports Excellence Award, presented to the CAA men's and women's basketball student-athletes that embody the highest standards of leadership, integrity, teamwork and sportsmanship in their academic and athletic achievements.
