Ebozue and Taitel earn CAA Scholar-Athlete Awards

BOSTON -- The Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams' Zoe Taitel and Collins Ebozue were named as the institution's nominees for the 2018-2019 CAA Scholar-Athlete Awards, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

William and Mary's Claire Williams and Elon's Tyler Sebring took home the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards, but as institutional nominees Taitel and Ebozue will be recognized by the conference with crystal awards as well.

Taitel boasts a 3.952 GPA while studying rehabilitation science. She has won seven CAA Commissioner's Academic Awards, made the Dean's list (3.5 GPA or above) seven times, and was a finalist for Student-Athlete of the Year at the 2018 Top Dog Awards. Taitel currently sits on the executive board of the Student Athlete Advisory Council and has completed two co-ops related to her major.

Taitel has impressed in the shot put all season long, including a personal best 14.14m performance at the Howlin' Husky Invitational that ranks eighth all-time in women's indoor program history. The redshirt senior turned heads last weekend at the BSU Invitational, where she earned gold in the discus throw and bronze in the shot put.

Ebozue has a 3.061 GPA and is pursuing a degree in biology. He made the Dean's list in Fall 2017, and is a two-time recipient of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award. Ebozue recently completed a co-op as a clinical research assistant.

The senior had a fantastic outdoor season in 2018, where he twice etched his name in the program record books. His wind-aided time of 10.73 in the 100m would tie for eighth on the all-time outdoor list, and he was a part of the 4x100m relay team that recorded the sixth-best outdoor time in program history at the IC4A Championships.
