JACKSONVILLE –
Junior David Adams picked a great time to have the best run of his collegiate career on Thursday when the Beacon, N.Y. native broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA East Preliminary Round.

Adams, running in the fourth heat at Hodges Stadium, finished with a time of 51.26 seconds to break Paul Quitzau's Northeastern record of 51.49 seconds, set on May 11, 1985.

The time was good for fourth in the heat, giving Adams enough to advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals on Friday, where he finished 18th overall with a time of 51.35 seconds. Adams made his third appearance at the NCAA East Preliminary Round and has a chance to advance the national semifinal for the first time in his career.

Also in action on Thursday was junior Erica Belvit, who narrowly missed a spot in the national semifinal after finishing 13th overall in the hammer throw (61.09-meter). Senior Paige Suse, who finished the high jump at 1.65-meters, and Kerri Ruffo in the 10000-meter run (35:36.80) also represented the Huskies.

In addition to Adams in the 400-meter hurdle quarterfinal, Alexander Korczynski took to the track on Friday night where he competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 9:11.21.

The following day, Andrew Cannistraci and Leeyan Redwood participated in the men's and women's shot put, where they finished 44th (15.76 meters) and 39th (14.91 meters), respectively.
