Results: 2019 CAA Track and Field Championships
ELON, N.C. – For the fifth consecutive season, the Northeastern men's track and field team has won the overall CAA championship as the Huskies finished Saturday in first place with 253 points at the two-day title meet, as hosted by Elon at the Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track and Field Complex. The Northeastern women's team tied for fourth place with William & Mary, totaling 97.5 points.
Dametrius O'Connor and
Kerri Ruffo were honored as the CAA men's and women's Most Outstanding Track Performers for their efforts, adding more hardware for the Huskies to bring home.
MEN'S RESULTS
Dametrius O'Connor showed off his speed on day two, winning both the 100-meter and 200-meter. Northeastern took the top four spots in the 100 with
Naukym Morton (10.89) and
Anthony Roderick (10.97) taking silver and bronze while
Collins Ebozue (11.03) finished fourth. Roderick also sat third behind O'Connor in the 200, setting a new personal best (21.78).
Roderick and O'Connor teamed up with Morton and
David Adams to champion the 4x100-meter relay, running a combined time of 40.79.
Quinn Litherland,
Phillips Magre, Adams and
Austin Lin also ran the 4x400-meter relay (3:14.97), placing second.
Adams medaled two more times during the day, taking bronze in the 110-meter hurdles (14.59) and gold in the 400-meter hurdles (51.94).
Freshman
Alexander Korczynski continued his dominance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, taking gold in the event with a time of 9:19.28.
Eric Clay placed third at 9:41.30.
Magre won gold in the 400-meter (47.68), placing himself sixth on the all-time program outdoor performance list in the event. He also earned silver with a height of 1.97 meters in the high jump, just barely missing out on victory.
The triple jump saw two more Huskies medal with
Jordan Samuels (14.37 meters) taking gold and
Ugonna Anuonyemere (14.10) earning bronze.
Andrew Cannistraci placed third in the shot put with a throw of 16.62 meters while
Connor Donovan finished second in the 800-meter (1:52.82).
Christian Stafford (14:56.63) and
Cameron Dickson (15:01.29) took on the 5,000-meter, placing second and third, respectively.
Kurt Robakiewicz and Magre both made the podium in the decathlon as well. Robakiewicz (5,805 points) placed second and Magre (5,500) placed third.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
On the women's side,
Kerri Ruffo picked up where she left off on day one. After winning the 10,000-meter on Friday, she took home gold in the 5,000-meter (17:26.06), avenging her second-place finish in the event at the 2018 CAA championship meet.
Paige Suse also won a gold medal, leaping for 1.79 meters in the high jump.
Leeyan Redwood and
Priscilla Senoo showed their excellence in the shot put once again as Redwood threw for 14.89 meters to Senoo's 14.52 to place second and third, respectively, in the event.
Khailah Griffin finished sixth in the 100-meter (12.30) while
Leah Saifi took fifth in the pole vault (3.70 meters).

The Huskies will look to continue their postseason success at the New England and IC4A/ECAC Championships, which both begin on Friday, May 10.
