HARTFORD, Conn. – Taking his talents to the professional level, Northeastern men's soccer alumnus Harry Swartz has been signed by Hartford Athletic of the United Soccer League (USL), as announced by the club on May 3.
 
After inking his deal, Swartz made his professional debut for Hartford on May 4, appearing immediately in the club's starting XI during its inaugural home match against the Charlotte Independence. Donning the No. 33 kit, Swartz logged his first 77 minutes of action in front of a crowd of 11,346 strong at Pratt & Whitney Stadium – Hartford's temporary home before moving into the reconstructed Dillon Stadium.
 
An agile competitor, Swartz made 71 collegiate appearances and 62 starts across his five-year Northeastern career, which spanned from 2014 to 2018. The three-year captain loaded five goals and five assists into his NU account, earning two All-CAA selections (2017, 2018) as well as 2018 NCAA Division I Men's All-Atlantic Region Third Team honors.
 
In January, Swartz was among the 60 initial collegiate invitees who participated in the 2019 adidas MLS Player Combine in Orlando, Florida, where he was evaluated in front of scouts and representatives from all 24 MLS clubs.
 
Upon ascending to the pro ranks, Swartz became the Huskies' second active alumnus to earn a USL roster spot, joining Charleston Battery midfielder Dante Marini (2010-13). Now USL Championship Eastern Conference rivals, Swartz and Marini are scheduled to square off against each other on Saturday, July 20, when Hartford hosts Charleston at Dillon Stadium (7 p.m. kickoff).

Founded in 2010, the USL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) as the second U.S. national division behind the MLS. The USL houses 36 clubs, split evenly across the Eastern and Western conferences.
