Alli Meehan netted the overtime game-winner less than two minutes into the period for the Northeastern field hockey team as they picked up the 3-2 victory over Monmouth in their home opener at Dedham Field.
Meehan got her stick on classmate
Lauren Rowe's initial shot, deflecting it past the Monmouth goalie for the game-winner.
The goal was her second of the season, while Rowe's assist was her fourth of the year and second-straight game of two assists.
Camille O'Conor got the Huskies on the board first when she redirected
Lauren Rowe's initial shot off of the team's first penalty corner of the game sending the shot high and past Monmouth's goalie. The Hawks were able to even the score before halftime at one-all.
Rowe put the Huskies on top 2-1 in the third quarter as she netted her first career goal and fourth point of the weekend deflecting
Lauren Brewster's penalty corner shot in for the score. Rowe actually inserted the corner, raced in and dove at Brewster's shot sneaking her way past the Monmouth defense for the score to make it a 2-1 game.
But before the end of the third quarter was up, Monmouth evened things out once again as Yasmin Pratt netted her second goal of the game with 22 seconds left in the period.
The Huskies return to action on Friday night back at Dedham Field when they take on Dartmouth at 6 p.m.
