PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Northeastern women's soccer team pushed its fourth game in a row to overtime, but the Providence College Friars found the golden goal in the 96th minute to slip past the Huskies, 2-1.

The first half was all Northeastern (3-6-0) as the defense turned in quite the shift and held Providence (5-3-1) to zero shots on goal. The Huskies meanwhile, racked up four shots on goal.

Just as the first half was coming to a close, Kerri Zerfoss slotted a ball past the Friar keeper in the 45th minute to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Zerfoss's goal came as she jumped mid-air to direct Kayla McCauley's cross from the left side of the field onto goal.

As the second half started, freshman goalkeeper Angeline Friel checked in for Northeastern. Just seven minutes into the second half, Friel made a save and was then whistled for a foul in the box as Providence was awarded a penalty kick. Elayna Grillakis converted on the penalty kick for the Friars and evened the score at 1-1 in the 52nd minute.

Mikenna McManus had the best look of the second half for the Huskies as she stepped up to take a free kick just outside the box in the 64th minute, but the Friar goalie was able to get a hand to deflect the shot wide.

After regulation ended with the match knotted up at 1-1, the Huskies headed to their fourth overtime game in a row and goalkeeper Megan Adams, who started the game, checked back in for Northeastern. Providence found the golden goal in the 96th minute of play as Hannah McNulty found some space outside the box and fired away to give the Friars the 2-1 win.
