NEWARK, Del. – Behind
Shannon Todd's season-high, 20-point performance and
Alexis Hill's near triple-double effort on Sunday, the Northeastern women's basketball team collected a high-energy road win at Delaware, earning the 72-62 victory at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Â
Todd drained four of the Huskies' seven triples, becoming the program's sixth all-time player to eclipse 150 career 3-point field goals (153). The senior guard delivered two 3-point baskets during the third quarter, helping NU break the 30-30 halftime deadlock and carry the 51-42 lead into the fourth quarter.
Â
Alexis Hill logged a double-double for the second consecutive game, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.
Stella Clark added 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists while
Mide Oriyomi came through with 11 points and four boards off the bench.
Â
Northeastern (6-8, 2-1 CAA) hounded the boards to the +13 advantage against Delaware (5-10, 1-3 CAA), which entered the day as the league's second best rebounding team. The Huskies collectively totaled 44 rebounds – one shy of the team's season high (Dec. 14 against Hartford).
Â
NU trailed the Blue Hens, 20-14, with 7:46 remaining in the first half prior to staging a 16-5 scoring run to lead, 30-25, with a minute to go in the second quarter. After Northeastern had shot 62 percent during the third quarter – including a four-for-four mark from downtown – the Huskies held off the Blue Hens' late-game charge, weathering the Delaware press that lured NU into committing 13 fourth-quarter turnovers.
Â
Jasmine Dickey led the Blue Hens with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Samone DeFreese recorded 13 points, four rebounds and three steals.
