Jordan Roland scored 33 points and
Bolden Brace added a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead Northeastern (10-8, 4-2 CAA) back from a 15-point deficit in the second half and defeat College of Charleston (11-8, 5-2 CAA), 79-76, on Thursday night at TD Arena. The Huskies went 11-for-12 from the charity stripe, including making the final six to secure the comeback.
Despite foul trouble,
Tyson Walker finished with seven points, five assists and four rebounds. Walker made two crucial free throws with 18 seconds left to extend the Huskies' lead back to three, 76-73.
Greg Eboigbodin posted six points and six rebounds, including going 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
After being down by 15 points early in the second half, Northeastern used a 23-11 run over 10 minutes to slice the lead down to three points, 66-63 (6:53). The teams would trade baskets until Brace knocked down a 3-pointer to tie the game at 70 with 1:53 remaining. Roland then gave the Huskies their first lead since early in the second half after a turnover with 1:23 left, 72-70. Following a basket by Charleston to tie the game at 72, Roland buried his fifth 3-pointer of the night and the Huskies would make their free throws to claim the victory.
C of C's Grant Riller finished with a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. It is the first-ever triple-double in the Cougars' history.
Northeastern will travel to Wilmington, N.C. to take on UNCW on Saturday. The game will be streamed on FloHoops.com.
