BOSTON— The No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team is set to open the 2020 calendar year at the inaugural Battle at the Burgh invitational hosted at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. The Huskies will first take on Colgate on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. before facing either No. 1 Wisconsin or Robert Morris on Jan. 5.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- Steel City Showdown: The Huskies will be competing in the inaugural Battle at the Burgh invitational along with Colgate, Wisconsin and Robert Morris. The invitational is hosted at the Pittsburgh Penguins practice facility in Cranberry Township, Pa. The Huskies will first take on Colgate (9-8-3, 3-4-1 ECAC) on Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. Danielle Ser-dachny leads the Raiders with 15 points off five goals and 10 assists. Between the pipes, Liz Auby has started 17 games and owns a 1.85 GAA and .929 save percentage.
In the second game of the weekend, the Huskies will either face No. 1 Wisconsin (18-1-1, 10-1-1 WCHA) or RV Robert Morris (10-6-2, 5-1-0 CHA). Wisconsin enters this weekend as the No. 1 team in the land, with Daryl Watts leading the way with an NCAA-best 49 points and 31 assists. Robert Morris is receiving votes in both polls and has Jaycee Gebhard leading them on the ice with 35 points (11 G, 24 A).
- Going Streaking: Junior defenseman Skylar Fontaine is currently riding a 10-game point streak, dating back to the 2-0 win over Boston University on Nov. 2, 2019. Fontaine's point streak is the second-longest in the country behind Clarkson's Elizabeth Giguere (15). Sophomore forward Alina Mueller, is currently riding a nine-game point streak.
- Money Mueller: Alina Mueller currently ranks top-three in the NCAA in points per game (2.00) and assists per game (1.35). The Winthur, Switzerland native is also tied for first nationally with five game-winning goals. Mueller most recently tallied two goals in the 4-2 win over Vermont, including the game-winner.
UP NEXT
The Huskies will return to Boston to face Boston College in a home-and-home series beginning on Friday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at Kelley Rink.
