BOSTON -
Jordan Roland made eight 3-pointers, second-best in program history, scoring 25 of his 28 points in the second half to lead a 16-point rally for Northeastern in the final 20 minutes, but the Huskies (9-8, 3-2 CAA) fell just short in the end, 74-72, to Hofstra (13-5, 4-1 CAA) on Thursday night inside Matthews Arena in front of a lively crowd.
Bolden Brace finished with a double-double, tallying 18 points and 10 rebounds to become the 39th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in his career.
Tyson Walker was the final player in double figures for the Huskies, finishing with 10 points and four assists. Northeastern shot 57 percent (17-for-30) in the second half, and 58 percent (7-for-12) from behind the arc, all seven triples coming from Roland.
The Huskies took their first lead of the game with just over five minutes remaining, 62-61, outscoring the Pride 35-18 over a 13-minute span. Roland would connect on a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to tie the game, but Hofstra's Eli Pemberton scored with 0.5 on the clock to give the Pride the victory.
Pemberton led four Hofstra players in double figures with 24 points, just ahead of Desure Buie's 23. Isaac Kante had 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Jalen Ray posted 12 points.
The Huskies will have a week off before traveling to the Carolinas for games on the road at Charleston (Jan. 16) and UNCWÂ (Jan. 18). Both games can be watched on FloHoops.com.
