BOSTON - Northeastern's
Skylar Fontaine, Aerin Frankel and
Katy Knoll have been invited to the 2021 U.S. Women's National Team Evaluation Camp, joining alumsÂ
Kendall Coyne Schofield and
Hayley Scamurra at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota from Oct. 25-31. The camp is part of the process in selecting the U.S. Women's National Team for the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship set for April 7-17 in Halifax and Truro, Nova Scotia.Â
"I am very proud of Kendall, Aerin, Skylar, Katy and Hayley for earning a spot at the USA National Team camp," said head coach
Dave Flint. "It is a great opportunity for them to showcase themselves alongside the best players in the country."
Fontaine was named Hockey East Best Defenseman last season after leading all Hockey East blue-liners with 17 goals, 25 assists and 42 points. The Rhode Island native was named Hockey East First-Team All-Star and to the Hockey East All-Tournament Team. The two-time CCM/AHCA All-American has 21 goals and 41 assists during her career with the Huskies.Â
Frankel, a two-time Hockey East Goaltender of the Year award winner, broke single-season school records with a 1.07 goals against average, .958 save percentage, 10 shutouts and 27 wins. She debuted for Team USA in the 2019-20 Rivalry Series and took home a win with a .964 save percentage. The New York native was also named a CCM/AHCA All-American and was a top-10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award, given to the country's top women's ice hockey player.
Knoll, heading into her sophomore year, led the Husky rookies with 26 points during the 2019-20 season after skating in 38 games during her first season. The New York native was named Hockey East Third-Team All-Star and to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team.Â
Coyne Schofield is a highly-decorated player for the U.S. National Team, capturing six gold medals at the IIHF World Women's Championships and a gold medal in the 2018 Winter Olympics. While at Northeaster, she earned the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award in 2016 and held many scoring records. She has participated in multiple NHL All-Star games and was recently named as the most influential person in women's hockey by

Scamurra currently plays for the Buffalo Beauts of the NWHL after being selected as the 10th overall pick in 2016. She was named Rookie of the Year and scored a hat trick during the 2018 NWHL All-Star game, leading the NWHL in scoring with 20 points during the 2018-19 season.Â
This is the first U.S. Team Evaluation Camp for both Fontaine and Frankel.
