Hockey East Press Release | 2020-21 Schedule
WAKEFIELD, MA. - The Northeastern women's hockey team will open the season with a home-and-home against Providence, hosting the Friars on Friday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. on NESN inside Matthews Arena, and will welcome 11 games at home, announced by Hockey East on Wednesday. The Huskies enter the season No. 3 in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls and are the three-time defending Hockey East champions.
The Hockey East Association placed an emphasis to limit travel and help ensure the safety of student-athletes, coaches and staff. The 2020-21 schedule includes 18 Hockey East conference games and six additional games against Hockey East schools that will be designated as non-conference games for a total of 24 games. All games will be back-to-back against the same opponent with the exception of two being home-and-home and another being away-and-away. Three weeks of the season are designated "flex weekends" which will give teams the opportunity to make up any postponed games. The 2021 Beanpot is to be determined at this time.
Fans will not be permitted at games inside historic Matthews Arena through 2020, and Northeastern will re-evaluate after the New Year. The Northeastern Athletic Department is offering fans an opportunity to join the Huskies even if you can't physically be at the game. You can show your support and pride all season long by purchasing a cardboard cutout of yourself, a friend, a family member or even your pet place in an open seat in the arena. Proceeds from the cutouts will support all Northeastern University student-athletes through the
Howlin' Huskies Fund. For more information on how to reserve your cutout, please visit
