BOSTON - The No. 2 Northeastern women's hockey team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Hockey East) takes on No. 9 Boston College (4-2-0, 4-2-0 Hockey East) in an opening conference home-and-home series this weekend. Friday's game is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Conte Forum on College Sports Live and Sunday's game is a 5 p.m. puck drop in Matthew's Arena on NESN+.
SCOUTING BOSTON COLLEGE
The Eagles take on the Huskies with a two-game winning streak after coming off a home-and-home series against the UConn last weekend. BC secured the wins this past weekend with final scores of 5-3 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday. Kelly Browne, Hannah Bilka and Natalie Tulchinsky all had goals for the Eagles with a set of assists from Cayla Barnes. With 36 saves from Maddy McArthur on Friday and 35 on Saturday the Eagles were able to top UConn in a weekend sweep.
MONEY MUELLER
Junior Alina Mueller is coming off one of the best seasons in Northeastern history. Mueller led the nation with a school record 10 game-winning goals and posted 66 points (27 goals, 39 assists), third-best in the NCAA. She garnered CCM/AHCA All-American first team honors and was a top-three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. Mueller was named as the top prospect under 25 years of age by the Ice Garden and is a two-time Olympian. She garnered Hockey East Player of the Year and Tournament MVP accolades last season.
FONTAINE, FRANKEL AND KNOLL INVITED TO U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM EVALUATION CAMP
Skylar Fontaine, Aerin Frankel and Katy Knoll joined alums Kendall Coyne-Schofield and Hayley Scamurra at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., on Oct. 25-31, 2020. The camp is part of the process in selecting the U.S. Women's National Team for the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship set for April 7-17, 2021 in Halifax and Truro, Nova Scotia. Knoll earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team and was named Hockey East Third-Team All-Star after leading all Husky freshman with 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists).
HUSKIES PICKED AS HOCKEY EAST FAVORITES
Northeastern received 9-of-10 first-place votes and is the preseason favorite to win the Hockey East Women's League according to the head coaches in the conference. The Huskies have won three consecutive Hockey East tournament championships and are back-to-back Hockey East regular-season titles heading into 2020-21.
