NORFOLK, Va. - Shaquille Walters scored a game-high 17 points and
Coleman Stucke posted 12 second-half points to lead Northeastern (1-3) in a 66-62 loss at Old Dominion (3-2) on Sunday inside Chartway Arena. The Huskies started the game 0-for-13 from the floor, but rallied to tie the score late, before falling by four.
Tyson Walker returned after missing the second half in a close loss at Syracuse (62-56), dishing out a career-high eight assists and finished with 10 points.
Chris Doherty had his best game of his young Northeastern career, tallying a career-high eight points and nine rebounds, five on the offensive glass.
The game featured a couple of big runs from each team, with ODU taking the largest lead of the game, 52-39, with 10:53 remaining. The Huskies fought back and responded with a 14-4 run over five minutes. Stucke then buried a 3-pointer near the corner to tie the score at 60 (2:40), but ODU earned a stop and made a pair of free throws at the other end to lead 62-60 with 1:21 left in the contest. The Huskies missed a short jumper and the long rebound went to the Monarchs' A.J. Oliver II who finished a layup at the other end to ice the game.
ODU was led by Kalu Ezikpe's 17 points, followed by Joe Reece and Malik Curry with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Monarchs shot 52 percent (26-for-50) and made all eight free throws they attempted.
The Huskies will conclude this three-game road swing at Georgia (6-0) on Tuesday night. The game will be streamed on SEC Network + at 7 p.m.
