ATHENS, Ga. –
Tyson Walker scored a game-high 19 points and
Jahmyl Telfort finished with 15 to lead Northeastern (1-4) in a 76-58 loss to Georgia (7-0) on Tuesday night inside Stegeman Coliseum. The Huskies were outrebounded 41-30 and were outscored 46-14 in the paint.
The Huskies led by as many as 15 points late in the first half and held a 45-32 lead at the half after shooting 70 percent (9-for-13) from behind the arc. Georgia, who is receiving 19 votes in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, used a 21-0 run in the second half after Walker picked up his fourth foul to seize control of the game.
Shaquille Walters and
Chris Doherty led the Huskies on the glass with seven and six rebounds, respectively. UGA had four players in double figures, highlighted by Andrew Garcia's 15 points off the bench and Toumani Camara's 13 points.
The Huskies are scheduled to open CAA play on Jan. 2-3 against Elon inside the Cabot Center.
