Colangelo Named to Roster of the 2021 U.S. National Junior Team

BOSTON — Sam Colangelo has been named to the final roster of the 2021 U.S. National Junior Team, announced on Saturday. This is the third straight season a Northeastern player has donned the Red, White and Blue in the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship.

The Stoneham, Mass. native is heading into his freshman year with the Huskies and was selected 36th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks (story). The forward played 55 games for the USHL Chicago Steel the last two seasons putting up 31 goals and 30 assists including 58 points last season alone.

Colangelo participated in the 2021 U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp in October and was invited to the 2020 World Junior Summer Showcase earlier this year that was canceled due to COVID-19.

Teammate Devon Levi was named to Hockey Canada's National Junior Team on Thursday and is the first current Northeastern player to make that team (story).

Defenseman Jordan Harris and Associate Head Coach Jerry Keefe were on the 2020 U.S. National Junior Team. Keefe was also an assistant coach on the 2019 silver medalist winning U.S. National Junior Team with Northeastern alums Cayden Primeau (Canadiens) and Tyler Madden (Kings).
