Spenser Smith all had hits to lead Northeastern (0-2) in an 8-0 defeat to Alabama (2-0) on Saturday at Sewell-Thomas. The Crimson Tide pitchers have not allowed a run all series, and held the Huskies to four singles today in a second straight shutout.
Right-handed pitcher
Sam Jacobsak (0-1) made the start on the mound, throwing 5.0 innings, allowing seven hits, five runs, three earned runs and struck out five. The Huskies made three errors in the game which led to the two unearned runs.
Alabama jumped out to three runs in the first inning and two more in the second to cruise to the eight-run victory. RHP Connor Shamblin (1-0) tossed 5.0 scoreless innings for 'Bama, surrendering three hits and fanned five. UA's Tyler Gentry finished 3-for-4, with two runs scored and two runs batted in.
