BOSTON— The No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team will close out its regular season slate against Merrimack in a home-and-home series beginning on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. The series will then move to Matthews Arena on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 2 p.m., where the Huskies will celebrate senior day.
Seniors
Codie Cross,
Matti Hartman and
Paige Capistran will be honored with a pregame ceremony prior to puck drop on Saturday. Additionally, the Huskies will host their annual alumnae game on Saturday, with puck drop at 11:15 a.m. in Matthews Arena.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- The Warriors: The Huskies bested Merrimack in the two teams lone meeting this season, 5-1, with Brooke Hobson scoring two goals for Northeastern. The Warriors most recently split a series with UConn. Mikyla Grant-Mentis leads Merrimack with 33 points off 20 goals and 13 assists. Lea-Kristine Demers has put in the bulk of time for the Warriors between the pipes. Demers owns a .905 save percentage and 3.10 GAA.
- Good Things Come In Threes: Northeastern will honor its most decorated class on Saturday, with Codie Cross, Matti Hartman and Paige Capistran being honored. The trio have been a part of three Hockey East regular season crowns, one Beanpot championship, two Hockey East tournament championships and two berths into the NCAA tournament.
- A Tale of Two Top-10 Finalists: Sophomore forward Alina Mueller and junior goaltender Aerin Frankel were named top-10 finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award – presented annually to the top player in Division I women's ice hockey – as announced Thursday by USA Hockey. Mueller and Frankel are the first Northeastern duo since 2002 and just the third overall pair to be named to the top-10 in the same season.
