BOSTON— The No. 2 Northeastern women's hockey team is set to open its Hockey East series with the Merrimack Warriors this Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. in Lawler Rink.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. Scouting Merrimack: The Warriors are the last team the Huskies have yet to face in Hockey East play this season. Merrimack is coming off a 3-0 loss at Providence, and prrior to that, the warriors split the series with Boston University tying the Terriers, 1-1 and losing 6-3. Mikyla Grant-Mentis leads the Warriors with 28 points off 18 goals and 10 assists. Her 18 goals rank second in Hockey East, just behind Alina Mueller.

  2. Month Of The Howlin' Huskies: For the month of January, Aerin Frankel was named the Hockey East Goaltender of the Month and Alina Mueller was named the Hockey East Player of the Month. The duo helped lead the Huskies to an NCAA-best eight wins in January. Frankel's seven wins and four shutouts led all Division I goaltenders during January. Mueller led all players in the country during January with 15 points and two shorthanded goals.

  3. On The Penalty Kill: Northeastern currently ranks second among NCAA Division I programs on the penalty kill, having negated 87 of its 93 opposing power play chances (93.5 percent).
