Jordan Roland scored a game-high 32 points, including an acrobatic left-handed 3-pointer to bring Northeastern within one with 8.3 seconds left, but Hofstra (18-7, 9-3 CAA) rallied from 14 points down in the second half to defeat the Huskies (11-13, 5-7 CAA), 75-71, on Saturday at The Mack. The Pride outscored the Huskies 24-13 from the free-throw line.
Jason Strong reached double figures for the third time this season, posting 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
Shaquille Walters led the Huskies on the glass with nine rebounds to go with nine points.
Northeastern grabbed early control of the game from the very start, jumping out to a 20-4 lead through the first seven minutes. The Pride battled back and only trailed by 10 at the break, 40-30.
The second half would present foul trouble for the Huskies, which led to a 28-8 run for the Pride over 10 minutes and a seven-point lead, 61-54, with 6:31 remaining in the game. The Pride would never relinquish that lead to hold off the Huskies late.
Desure Buie scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half, while Jalen Ray also tallied 22 points for Hofstra. Eli Pemberton was the final Pride player in double figures with 12.
