BOX SCORE (PDF)

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -
Corey DiLoreto smacked two home runs and went 3-for-5, driving in three runs, while Spenser Smith was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored and one RBI to lead Northeastern (7-4) in the final game of the Snowbird Classic on Wednesday, falling to Western Michigan (7-5), 17-16, at North Charlotte Park. The Huskies rallied from eight-runs down to tie the game in the ninth inning.

Kyle Peterson drove in three runs, going 3-for-6 with a double, while Scott Holzwasser led off with a home run to start the game and finished 2-for-4 with a team-best four runs scored. Right-handed pitcher Owen Batchelder came into the game in the eighth inning with no outs, a runner on first base and four runs across already, but was able to prevent the Broncos from scoring additional runs and gave the Huskies a chance in the ninth inning.

Smith, Jared Dupere, Ian Fair, DiLoreto and Ryan Cervone all drove in runs for the Huskies in the top of the ninth inning as Northeastern scored six runs to tie the game at 16. WMU responded with the game-winning run in the bottom half, after a bunt single with a runner on first base led to a throwing error which allowed the Broncos to plate the winning run.

Northeastern will conclude the Florida trip this weekend at FAU for a three-game series. The game on Friday will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on CUSA.TV.
