Mueller, Flint claim Hockey East postseason honors

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.— The Hockey East regular season champion Northeastern women's hockey team claimed two more awards as head coach Dave Flint was named Hockey East Coach of the Year and Alina Mueller was unanimously chosen as the Player of the Year, as announced Friday at the annual postseason awards banquet.

The top-three Patty Kazmaier Finalist was a unanimous selection for Player of the Year after leading Hockey East in goals (25), assists (35), points (60), game-winning goals (9), shorthanded goals (3) and shots on goal (193). Mueller collects the honor for the first time in her career after being named the Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year a season ago.

Mueller collected three Player of the Month honors from the league and was named the Player of the Week four times. The Winterthur, Switzerland native was named an unanimous Hockey East First-Team All-Star.

Flint Coach of the Year

Flint collected Coach of the Year honors for the second year in a row after leading the Huskies to a second straight regular season title. Under Flint's guidance, the Huskies hit 30 wins for the first time in a season.

Additionally, Flint led the Huskies to new program records for most wins in HEAW play (24) and most points during a HEAW season (48), while posting the fewest losses (4) in a regular season since 1988-89. Flint was previously named the Hockey East Co-Coach of the Year in 2011-12.

In total, Northeastern claimed eight of the nine individual awards from Hockey East, while placing four players on the First-Team, two players on the Third-Team and two players on the All-Rookie team.
