COACH CARPENITO PREVIEW

BOSTON -
  The No. 4 Northeastern women's hockey team (6-1-1, 6-1-1 HEA) takes on No. 7 Providence (9-2-1, 9-2-1 HEA) in a conference home-and-home series. Puck drop Friday will be at 4:30 p.m. in Matthews Arena on NESN+ and Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in Schneider Arena on College Sports Live.

GOAL SCORING HUSKIES

The Huskies have played eight games this season with junior Alina Mueller leading the team with eight points (three goals, five assists). Katy Knoll and Chloe Aurard each have tallied three goals while Skylar Fontaine has notched five helpers this season. No. 4 Northeastern enters this series after coming off an overtime win against Maine, 3-2. 

REACH TO THE SKY

Senior Skylar Fontaine chases the 100th career point mark as she enters her 123rd career game with 99 career points. Fontaine is coming off her best season for the Huskies, earning Hockey East Best Defenseman in 2019-20. She led the country with a +49 rating and her 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) was second among NCAA blue-liners last season.

MONEY MUELLER

Posting three points (1 goal, 2 assists) against Maine, her 16th career three-point game, junior Alina Mueller named Hockey East Player of the Week (1/18/21) after a season-high eight shots. Mueller leads the Huskies with eight points this season (3 goals, 5 assists), and is sixth in Hockey East in points per game (1.00). Mueller is coming off one of the best seasons in Northeastern history. Mueller led the nation with a school record 10 game-winning goals and posted 66 points (27 goals, 39 assists), third-best in the NCAA. She garnered CCM/AHCA All-American first team honors and was a top-three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. 

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE

The Friars come into this series after sweeping Merrimack in a home-and-home (3-0), (4-2). Sara Hjalmarsson leads the team in points with 14 (five goals, nine assists) while Annelise Rice has also tallied five goals and a pair of assists. Defending the net for the Friars, Sandra Abstreiter holds a 1.49 GAA and a .942 save pct. as they head into their 13th and 14th games. The Huskies previously shutout the Friars in a home game 4-0 inside Matthews Arena.
