Kendall Currence and
Maddie Vizza leading its scoring on Sunday, the Northeastern women's basketball team nearly pushed Drexel into overtime at Cabot Center, despite allowing the Dragons to slip by, 58-56, during the closing seconds.

Clark paced the Huskies with 15 points while tacking on eight rebounds and seven assists. The senior point guard accounted for 11 of her team's opening 17 points, helping NU control a double-digit lead during the early stages of the second quarter.

Currence scored in double figures off the bench for her third consecutive outing, notching 13 points and five rebounds. Vizza set a rookie-season scoring high with her 11-point performance, draining three 3-pointers to keep the Huskies surging well through the finish line.

Northeastern (3-8, 2-6 CAA) took Drexel (9-4, 6-2 CAA) out of its offensive comfort zone, holding the Dragons to a 31-percent shooting clip – a significant reduction from Saturday's 57-percent mark. In turn, the Huskies hit 54 percent of their looks from the floor though spotted the visitors a 20-point margin in points off turnovers, committing 20 against Drexel's six.

After Tori Hyduke's 3-pointer had broken the game's 6-6 tie during the first quarter, Northeastern rallied for 16 unanswered points, including 11 that opened the second quarter.
Ayanna Dublin turned a high-post pass from Clark into two points on the block, capping the Huskies' run that put NU ahead, 22-9, with 6:12 to play in the half.

With its halftime lead reduced to 27-23, Northeastern locked down defensively, keeping the Dragons to two field goals through the opening five minutes of the third quarter. Kayla Bacon hit a jumper to put Drexel in front, 33-31, at the four-minute mark, but back-to-back baskets by Vizza soon had the Huskies leading again, 40-36.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Currence connected on a 3-pointer from the right wing to give Northeastern the 50-45 lead with six minutes to go. However, the Dragons countered with a 10-2 scoring run, setting up the contest's thrilling endgame.

Northeastern had a chance at breaking the 56-56 score line with less than 30 seconds to go, but Clark's running layup missed its mark and deflected out of bounds to Drexel. Hannah Nihill proceeded to hit the winning layup for the Dragons on their second inbounds play that started with 2.4 seconds remaining.

The entire second half of Sunday's game was played within an eight-point margin with neither team leading by more than five points.

Nihill led Drexel with 19 points and three steals while Maura Hendrixson added 12 points and six assists.
