BOSTON - Northeastern (3-5, 2-0 CAA) will take on Hofstra (6-3, 2-0 CAA) in an early Colonial Athletic Association showdown this Thursday and Saturday in a home-and-home series. The Huskies will travel to Hofstra on Thursday for a 5 p.m. tip on FloHoops.com, and host the Pride on Saturday at Noon on NESN.
CAA PLAY
The Huskies are off to a 2-0 start for the second consecutive season and sixth time since joining the league in 2005-06. Northeastern has won a league-best 148 games since Bill Coen's arrival in 2006-07 and the Huskies became the fifth program in league history to make three consecutive championship game appearances (2018, '19, '20). Coen ranks second all-time in CAA history with 165 regular season and postseason victories.
The Huskies and Pride have met in the CAA Championship in the last two seasons, with Northeastern winning in 2019 and the Pride capturing the 2020 title.
TELFORT NAMED CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Jahmyl Telfort earned his second CAA Rookie of the Week recognition after helping the Huskies to a sweep over Elon during the CAA opening weekend. Telfort, a native of Boucherville, Quebec, scored a season-high 20 points on Saturday and made 7-of-13 shots, including 2-of-4 from behind the arc. In his first collegiate start, the 6-foot-7 guard tallied 10 points and a career-high three steals.
COEN APPROACHES ALL-TIME WINS RECORD
Bill Coen is in his 15th season as head coach of the Huskies and currently has 244 wins, six shy of the all-time record at Northeastern held by Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun from 1972-86. Under Coen's leadership, the Huskies lead the CAA in conference wins and 25 players have signed professional contracts. Northeastern has a league-best five title game appearances since 2013.
BEST ROAD TEAMS IN CAA PLAY
Hofstra and Northeastern have been the top two road teams in league play over the last four seasons. The Pride have won nearly 78 percent (21-6) of their games on the road, while the Huskies are winning 63 percent (17-10) in their conference road contests.
