Â
BOSTON – Continuing its four-game, six-day stretch of CAA contests, the Northeastern women's basketball team will look to notch its first win of the 2020-21 season on Thursday, Jan. 7, when the Huskies entertain Hofstra at Cabot Center. Thursday's game will air live on NESN with coverage beginning at 12 p.m.
Â
GAME DEDICATION
As part of the Northeastern women's basketball team's commitment this season (and every season) to ending racism and police brutality, the Huskies will be dedicating Thursday's game against Hofstra to Jacob Blake, who was paralyzed by a police shooting in Wisconsin last August.
Â
Northeastern is proud to make the social justice conversation a movement and not a moment. The Huskies' Black Lives Matter warmup shirts for the 2020-21 season symbolize this goal and reflect the team's stance that no matter who you are, you are equal.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
1.
Last Year's Series:Â Northeastern bookended its 2019-20 CAA season with two convincing wins against Hofstra. In January at Matthews Arena,
Ayanna Dublin tied her career scoring high with 16 points, leading a cast of four double-figure scorers as NU won its league opener against the Pride, 74-51. The Huskies controlled a 10-point lead two minutes into the second quarter and never allowed Hofstra to slip closer, riding their 56-percent shooting mark through to the finish line. Two months later in Hempstead, Northeastern sported a 13-point advantage from its +5 turnover margin against the Pride, distancing itself from a two-point game during the third quarter to stake the 62-54 victory.
Alexis Hill led the Huskies with 18 points while
Stella Clark buried four 3-pointers and registered 12 points, seven rebounds, four rebounds and four steals.

2.
More-iyomi:Â Sophomore forward
Mide Oriyomi rides consecutive 20-point scoring games into Thursday's CAA matchup against Hofstra. The Hamilton, Ontario, native recorded her first career double-double on Monday against Delaware (20 points, 10 rebounds) before elevating her career scoring high to 22 points during Tuesday's run-back game against the Blue Hens. She is the first Northeastern player to log 20-point scoring games during consecutive CAA regular season games since
Jess Genco unloaded 28 and 35 points, respectively, against UNCW (March 1, 2019) and College of Charleston (March 3, 2019).
Â
3.
Clark in Control:Â Senior point guard
Stella Clark heads into Thursday's game ranked second among CAA players in assists per game (5.3), free throw percentage (89.9 percent) and minutes per game (37.5). The Preseason All-CAA Second Team pick currently sports the sixth highest assist-turnover ratio (1.6) in the conference and the seventh best steals mark (2.3 per game). Clark dished out a career high, nine assists, during Monday's CAA opener against Delaware.
