Erica Staunton tallied a career-high 21 kills and sophomore outside hitter
Defne Arliel notched 14 kills to lead the Huskies volleyball team (10-9, 6-3 CAA), to a stunning five set victory over first place Elon (13-8, 6-3 CAA) on Saturday at the Cabot Center.
It was a close match between the two teams, with each set being won by six or less points. Elon took the first and third set, while the Huskies took the second and fourth to force a fifth.
- Along with her 21 kills, Staunton had six digs, two blocks and hit .500.
- Staunton has tallied double-digit kills in seven matches so far this season.
- Junior libero Kayla Martin notched 16 digs and four assists.
- Junior middle blocker Nailah Jenkins tallied 10 kills, three service aces, and four blocks.
- Sophomore middle blocker Marika Virthe chipped in with six kills and five blocks.
- Freshman setter Jessica Frannea tallied a career-high 53 assists to go with seven digs and two blocks.
- Prior to the match, Elon swept its past three opponents.
- The match had 21 tie scores, and 12 lead changes.
