BOX SCORE (PDF) | POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE

BOSTON
— Sophomore forward Ty Jackson, junior forward Aidan McDonough and freshman forward Justin Hryckowian each netted a goal but Northeastern men's hockey (3-3-0, 0-2-0 HEA) was unable to overcome UConn (3-3-0, 2-1-0 HEA) in their 5-3 loss on Tuesday evening at Matthews Arena.
  • Ty Jackson started the scoring on the evening with his first goal of the season coming 4:09 into the first period after putting a backhanded effort past the UConn goaltender. He was assisted by junior defenseman Tyler Spott (1) and sophomore forward Gunnarwolfe Fontaine (3).
  • In the second period, the Huskies put home two power-play goals, the first coming off the stick of McDonough. He crashed the net after a shot from Hryckowian (2) and finished off the rebound. Fontaine (4) earned the second assist.
  • McDonough's third Hockey East goal in two games ties him for second in scoring in the conference this season.
  • It was then Hryckowian's turn to score, taking tape-to-tape passes from McDonough (1) and senior defenseman Jordan Harris (2) and dancing around the netminder to make it a one-goal game with 3:40 to play in the second.
  • Hryckowian is the first Northeastern rookie to have a multi-point game this season.
  • Northeastern was outshot by UConn 41-31 but won the faceoff battle 37-33. Hryckowian had the best faceoff win percentage, giving the Huskies possession of the puck 64.3 percent of the time.
  • The Huskies went 2-5 on the power play, scoring the most goals on the power play this season. The last time Northeastern had multiple power-play goals was during last season's 5-4 win over New Hampshire (2/13/21) when they scored twice on the man-advantage.
After this midweek matchup with the other Huskies, Northeastern will turn to a home series with Maine this weekend as they take on the Black Bears at Matthews Arena on Friday, October 29 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, October 30 at 7 p.m. on NESN and SportsLive, respectively.
