Erica Staunton tallied 17 kills and junior middle blocker
Nailah Jenkins notched 14 kills on a .500 hitting percentage to lead the Huskies volleyball team (8-8, 4-2 CAA) to a thrilling five set victory over UNCW (2-13, 1-3 CAA) on Sunday at Hanover Hall.
The Huskies battled back after losing the first set, taking the next two for a 2-1 advantage in the match. The Seahawks won the fourth set to force it go five, but Northeastern held on for the win in a close 15-13 final set.
- Along with her big day on offense, Jenkins tallied three service aces and eight digs.
- Junior outside hitter Evelyn Gonzalez had six kills and six digs.
- Freshman setter Jessica Frannea recorded her first collegiate double-double with 40 assists and 12 digs.
- Sophomore defensive specialist Maddie Donaphon tallied a season-high 13 digs.
- Freshman libero Sahitya Krishnamurthy had a stellar day on defense, leading the Huskies with 26 digs.
- Northeastern outblocked UNCW 18-10.
- The Huskies have tallied double-digit blocks in 12 matches so far this season.
