BOSTON – Senior guard
Kendall Currence scored a team-high 17 points, and three other Huskies tallied double-digits to pace Northeastern women's basketball (3-1, 0-0 CAA) to a 61-47 victory over UMass Lowell (1-3, 0-0 AE) on Solomon Court on Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies led 6-5 in the first quarter, and didn't look back. Northeastern tallied its biggest edge over the Riverhawks at the 1:40 mark in the third, leading UMass Lowell, 52-31, and ultimately held on for the win.
- At the half, the Huskies were up 31-21, sealed by a Northeastern 10-0 run that was capped off by a three-pointer at the buzzer by freshman guard Claudia Soriano.
- Northeastern outscored UMass Lowell, 30-26 in the second half, to cap off the win.
- Along with Currence, senior guard Katie May (11 points), sophomore guard Donna Ntambue (10 points), and Soriano (13 points) notched double figures.
- Currence finished the game shooting 6-14 from the field, and also filled the stat sheet in other ways with four rebounds and two assists.
- Ntambue tallied her first career double-double, with 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
- Soriano also had three rebounds, five assists and four steals.
- The Huskies outrebounded the Riverhawks, 38-27.
- Northeastern dominated UMass Lowell in points from the paint (34-22) and on fast breaks (11-0).
- The Huskies have now won two straight games at home.
Following the win, the Huskies will hit the road to take on Boston College on Wednesday, November 24. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
