Sammie Martin notched a career-high 12 points, and senior guard
Katie May tallied 12 points, but it was not enough as the Northeastern women's basketball team (3-2, 0-0 CAA), fell to rival Boston College (4-1, 0-0 ACC), 57-46, on Wednesday afternoon at Conte Forum.
The Huskies and Eagles were knotted up at 17 after the first quarter, but Boston College never looked back for the rest of the game. Northeastern tallied its only lead of the game at the 8:31 mark in the fourth (41-39), but the Eagles then responded with a 6-0 run to seal the victory.
- Both teams struggled in the first half, not shooting over 40% from the field in either quarter.
- The Eagles stretched their lead to 24-17 in the second, but a three-pointer by freshman guard Claudia Soriano ultimately cut the deficit down to 24-21.
- The Huskies continued to keep the Eagles lead down to single digits in the second half, helped by a Martin layup at the 2:20 mark of the third.
- Northeastern and Boston College were tied twice in the fourth quarter, at 39 and 41. Martin gave the Huskies the lead with a jump shot with 8:31 remaining, but was quickly responded by the 6-0 run of the Eagles.
- Boston College dominated with points from the paint (36-22), and shot over 50% from the field in the second half.
- Sophomore guard Donna Ntambue tallied a team-high 11 rebounds, one shy of a career-high.
- Soriano notched 10 points, and filled up the stat sheet in other ways with four assists, and seven steals.
- The Huskies shot 32.2% overall in the game (19-59.)
