HAMILTON, N.Y. --- Chris Doherty had a career-high 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds to lead three players in double-figures for a Northeastern men's basketball team (0-1) that led by a basket at the half, but Colgate (1-0) responded by shooting 48% in the second half to knock off the Huskies on Tuesday night at Cotterell Court, 65-58.

Nelly Cummings posted a career-high 25 points to lead all scorers as the Raiders used runs of 9-2 and 8-2 to lead by as many as 14 before the Huskies stormed back to close the gap to as little as five with a minute to go in a game that saw five ties and 12 lead changes.

Jahmyl Telfort led the Huskies with 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting (2-of-4 from three) to go along with five rebounds, while
Shaquille Walters also reached double digits with 10 points and seven board for a Huskies team that shot 40% from the floor (20-of-50) and 3-of-14 (21%) from three.

• Northeastern overcame four turnovers in the opening minutes of the game to finish the first half shooting 46% from the floor (10-of-22) and outrebounding the Raiders 21-12.

• The Huskies finished the first half on a 9-2 run, capped by a three from Walters, to lead 25-23 at the break

• Colgate shot 48% in the second half (12-of-25) and 5-of-10 from three, and got a bucket from Ryan Moffat that started a 9-2 run for the Raiders to take the lead for good 13:18 to play in regulation

• Northeastern responded with an 8-0 to climb within six with 1:51 to go, and trimmed the deficit down to five with 58 seconds to play.
