Donna Ntambue notched 11 points to lead Northeastern women's basketball (5-2, 0-0 CAA) to a rivalry win over Boston University (2-5, 0-0 PL) on Wednesday afternoon on Solomon Court.
The Huskies trailed by one after the first quarter, but did not look back the rest of the way. Both Northeastern (32%) and Boston University (37%) struggled offensively throughout the contest. The Huskies outscored the Terriers by a slim margin (40-31), in the final three quarters, to seal the win.
- Currence's 15 points led all scorers in the contest, going 7-16 from the field. The senior also had three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
- Ntambue made her mark at both the free throw line, going 5-7 from the charity stripe, and on the boards with a team-high six rebounds.
- Graduate student forward Emily Calabrese was solid defensively, picking up five rebounds, and also chipped in with six points.
- Freshman guard Claudia Soriano had nine points, and also filled in the stat sheet in other ways with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
- Sophomore forward Leyla Öztürk was a force for NU on the boards, bringing in five rebounds, all offensive, to give the Huskies second chances.
- Northeastern outscored Boston University in the paint (30-18).
- Prior to the matchup, Boston University was ranked fourth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage. The Huskies held the Terriers to 4-22 from beyond the arc (18.2%).
