WEST HARTFORD, CT. – Senior guard
Kendall Currence tallied a team-high 21 points, and two other Huskies notched double-digits to lead the Northeastern women's basketball team (6-2, 0-0 CAA) to a victory over Hartford (0-8, 0-0 CAA), at Chase Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies stormed out to a 19-7 advantage in the first quarter, and didn't look back in the rest of the contest. Northeastern outscored the Hawks 54-46 in the final three quarters, dominated in points in the paint (42-24), and in rebounds (56-27) to seal the victory.
- The Huskies' 56 rebounds are two shy of the all-time program record in a single game (58).
- Currence went 10-13 from the field, and the senior's 21 points are three short of a career high. Currence also had five rebounds and an assist.
- Graduate student forward Emily Calabrese tallied 14 points and eight rebounds, both season-highs.
- Freshman guard Claudia Soriano notched 13 points and also filled the stat sheet with a career-high seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
- Sophomore guard Donna Ntambue was stellar defensively for the Huskies, grabbing 11 rebounds (nine defensive) and a career-high three blocks.
- Northeastern outscored the Hawks on second chance points (12-3).
- The Huskies have won three straight games.
