WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Northeastern men's basketball team (6-7, 0-2) overcame a 22-0 William & Mary run midway through the second half to lead by two with four seconds remaining, but a pair of late foul calls allowed the Tribe (4-12, 2-0) to go 3-of-5 from the line in the final 1.1 seconds to edge the Huskies on Friday afternoon at Kaplan Arena, 71-70.

The Huskies, playing with a shortened bench for the second straight game, led by 14 early in the second half before finding themselves in foul trouble the rest of the way, allowing William & Mary to erase the gap and take an eight-point lead with 11 minutes to play.

After fighting back to retake the lead with four seconds remaining, 70-68, a foul call allowed the Tribe to hit two free throws to level the game at 70 with 1.1 seconds to go. From there, a Huskies turnover and subsequent foul put William & Mary at the line again, setting up Connor Kochera to hit 1-of-3 from the stripe to give the hosts the one-point victory.

Jahmyl Telfort led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting to go along with three rebounds and three assists, while
Nikola Djogo (16 points, five rebounds, three assists) and
Tyreek Scott-Grayson (15 points, seven rebounds, three assists) joined him in double-figures.
Chris Doherty finished the game with nine points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes of action.

• The teams played an even first half, with neither squad leading by more than six points in a period that saw the Huskies shoot 48% (13-of-27) and the Tribe 43% (13-of-30).

• William & Mary held the lead for much of the opening 20 minutes, and used a 16-6 run over seven minutes to go up 22-16 at the under-8 timeout.

• Northeastern battled back, though, closing the half on a 15-4 run to erase the deficit and take a 37-32 lead into the break.

• NU came out firing in the second half, hitting four of its first seven shots to open up a 13-point lead at 46-33 with 17:28 left.

• The Tribe, though, responded with a 20-0 run from there to retake the lead at the under-12 timeout, 54-48.

• Northeastern wouldn't go away, battling back to erase a pair of five-point deficits to take the lead with 2:49 to go and with four seconds to go when Doherty hit a free throw to give NU a 70-68 lead.
