BOSTON - The trio of Northeastern women's soccer players
Julianne Ross,
Mikenna McManus, and
Alexis Legowski, earned another accolade for the 2021 season as they were named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Second Team this week.
Julianne Ross
- Capped off her outstanding career at Northeastern with a stellar defensive season for the Huskies, anchoring a backline that allowed one goal per game, with nine shutouts on the season, including the post-season.
- Also chipped in offensively with an penalty kick goal early in the season.
- Ross also notched her fourth All-Conference team appearance making the 2021 All-CAA First Team, and United Soccer Coaches All-East Second Team
Mikenna McManus
- McManus started all 19 games for the Huskies, seeing time in seemingly every outfield position.
- Led the team with four goals and three assists for 11 points, including a penalty kick goal and a game-winning goal.
- Was also named a fourth-straight All-Conference honoree from the CAA for the 2021 season, making the All-Conference Second Team; also made the 2021 USC All-East Third Team
Alexis Legowski
- The midfielder also started all 19 games on the year, and tallying three goals, four assists for 10 points.
- Legowski's point total was good for second-best on the team, and she was tied for the team lead in game-winning goals this season with two.
- She also joined McManus and Ross as an All-CAA selection, earning her third straight honor, joining McManus on the Second Team, and on the USC All-East Third team.
For the 11th straight season, the Huskies found themselves in the CAA post-season tournament, finishing the regular season with a 8-8-1 record, 5-4-0 in CAA play. They made the CAA Championship Game for the third time in head coach
Ashley Phillips' tenure, after defeating the no-1 seed UNCW in the semifinals by a score of 1-0.
