Huskies Close Out Competition at Darius Dixon Memorial

LYNCHBURG, Va.

Savion Thompson ran the seventh-fastest time in school history (8.31) in the 60-meter hurdles, while Dominique Biron finished second in the women's high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches, to lead the Northeastern men's and women's track and field teams on day two of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at the Liberty Track Complex on Saturday.

Phillips Magre, Dametrius O'Connor, Donatien Djero, and Mayowa Osunsami helped lead the Huskies to a runner-up finish in the men's 4x400-meter relay (3:16.11), while Biron, Khailah Griffin, Lily Wetherbee, and Lucinda Shotts earned a sixth-place finish in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:05.78). Djero placed fifth in the men's 200-meter dash, while O'Connor and Magre finished with times of 21.85 and 22.10 to finish in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Griffin also finished 15th in the women's 200-meter dash (25.70.)

Osunsami crossed the finish line in fourth place in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.16, while Lucinda Shotts posted a sixth-place finish in the women's 800-meter dash with a time of 2:16.80. 

In the field events, Trinity Cardillo placed ninth in the women's shot put with a mark of 42 feet, 1 inch, while freshman Madeleine DuChaussee posted a distance of 40 feet, 8 inches to finish in 13th. 

The Huskies will compete against the University of Rhode Island on Feb. 25 (women) and Feb. 26 (men) in Kingston, R.I at the Mackal Field House.
