WILMINGTON, N.C. – Witnessing another career-high tying scoring day by
Stella Clark and a second straight double-double by
Mide Oriyomi on Sunday, the Northeastern women's basketball team cruised to the 78-58 win against UNCW at Trask Coliseum, notching its third consecutive CAA victory.

Funneling in the game high, five 3-pointers, Clark piled on 28 points against the Seahawks, achieving her fourth 20-point scoring game of the 2020-21 campaign. The senior point guard finished one assist shy of earning her first-ever double-double, recording the second nine-assist game of her career while flexing four steals.

Oriyomi motored to 19 points and 12 rebounds, posting the fifth double-double of her sophomore season and the third during her last five games. Rookie guard
Maddie Vizza buried four 3-pointers for the Huskies on her way to 12 points while senior forward
Ayanna Dublin came through with seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Northeastern (6-11, 5-9 CAA) set a season high for offensive production with its 78 points, shooting 44 percent from the field (28-of-63). The Huskies also tied their season high for made 3-point field goals, knocking down 13 for the second consecutive Sunday.

Clark put the wheels in motion for Northeastern on its first possession of the ballgame, hitting the jumper that sparked the Huskies' 12-3, game-opening scoring run. With the first quarter waning,
Kendall Currence and
Leyla Öztürk accounted for five straight NU points, presenting the Huskies with their largest lead of the half at 23-10.

Though Clark's 3-pointer midway through the second quarter pushed Northeastern's lead to 31-19, UNCW (3-12, 0-9 CAA) responded with nine unanswered points to work its way back into the contest. Oriyomi later put the finishing touches on the first half, converting the layup that left NU in front, 36-30, at the intermission.

Effective ball movement by the Huskies allowed Northeastern to reclaim its double-digit lead early during the third quarter. Dublin drew the foul on her successful jump-hook midway through the period, completing the additional free throw to put NU ahead, 49-34.

With Northeastern controlling the 54-45 lead at the start of the fourth quarter, Vizza fired two 3-pointers during the opening two minutes to help the Huskies reclaim their 15-point advantage. NU proceeded to coast to the finish line, outscoring the Seahawks, 24-13, during the final 10 minutes of play.

Carol-Anne Obusek double-doubled for UNCW to the tune of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Webster added 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals while Za'Nautica Downs tallied 11 points and five rebounds for the Seahawks.
