BOX SCORE (PDF) | POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE
BROOKLINE, Mass. -
JP Olson drove in the game-winning run,
Danny Crossen went 2-for-4 and scored the winning run, and right-handed pitcher
Cam Schlittler tossed 7.0 strong innings, scattering five hits and striking out six to lead Northeastern (6-5) to a series win over UMass Lowell (1-8), 2-1, on Saturday at Friedman Diamond. RHP
Brandon Dufault (1-3) earned his first win of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
RHP
Brian Rodriguez retired all three batters he faced in the eighth inning to keep the game tied at 1-1. After a scoreless ninth by Dufault, striking out one, Crossen led off the bottom half of the inning with a base hit to right field. He moved over to second base after
Kyle Peterson was hit-by-a-pitch, and
Scott Holzwasser sacrificed them both over with a perfect bunt that he nearly beat out for a hit. Olson then drove a ball to right field to push across Crossen and give the Huskies the walk-off victory.
Holzwasser walked for the 12th time this season to push his on-base streak to 29 straight games. Schlittler earned his third no decision of the season, allowing just one run and walked none. Peterson finished 1-for-2 with a nice diving play in left field, throwing over to first base to record a double play against the River Hawks in the second inning.
The Huskies will host Bryant for a single non-conference game this Tuesday. Game time is set for 2 p.m. and the game will stream on
FloBaseball.com and
Howlin' Huskies Productions.
