ERIE, Pa. - Northeastern's
Megan Carter is the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Championship, announced by the NCAA office on Thursday at the Women's Frozen Four. Carter, a native of Milton, Ontario, has a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average in biology.
Carter tallied a career-best five goals this season in 24 games played as a defenseman, and currently has seven assists for 12 points. She finished with two goals and 11 assists in 38 games played last season.
A two-time Hockey East All-Academic selection, Carter earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team last season and is a four-time Northeastern Top Dog (GPA > 3.8) and Dean's List honoree. She was named to the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Scholar Team in 2019-20.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
