Jared Dupere hit a two-run home run with two outs and a full count in the top of the ninth to lead Northeastern (3-3) to a 6-5 win over Old Dominion (7-3) on Saturday at Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. The Huskies used a three-run ninth inning to even the series.
Max Viera added his first career home run,
Scott Holzwasser had an RBI and scored a run,
JP Olson scored two runs, and
Sebastian Keane struck out a season-high eight in 5.0 innings pitched.
For Dupere, that's his second home run of the season and couldn't come at a better time with two outs in the top of the ninth and extended his on-base streak to 21 games. Holzwasser extended his on-base streak to 24 with a walk.
The Huskies would fall behind later thanks to an Andy Garriola grand slam. Robbie Petracci would make it back-to-back home runs and give the Monarchs a 5-2 lead. Viera would hit a solo shot in the fourth to make it 5-3 until the ninth inning.
Right-handed pitcher
Brian Rodriguez would pitch 2.0 innings and struck out three, while right-handed pitcher
Jake Gigliotti would also pitch 2.0 innings on the way to earning his first career win.
