BOSTON — Semifinal bound, the Northeastern women's soccer team will open postseason play this week at the 2020 CAA Soccer Championship -- hosted by Towson at Tiger Field in Towson, Maryland. As the No. 2 seed from the CAA North division, the Huskies will match up against the CAA South division champion, UNCW, on Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. with the winner advancing to the league championship match on Saturday, April 17, at 3 p.m. All CAA tournament matches will air live on FloSports.

LAST TIME OUT
Alexis LegowskiRose Kaefer, and senior Chelsea Domond each notched a goal to lead Northeastern in a 3-1 win over Drexel on Sunday at Parsons Field.The Dragons opened scoring early on the Huskies as they put one past Northeastern in the first 15 minutes of play. The remainder of the first half stood 1-0 Drexel as the Huskies posted ten shots, while Drexel posted seven.The Huskies secured a huge second half surge as Legowski found the back of the net off a corner kick from Mikenna McManus to tie the match at one a piece in the first ten minutes. Rose Kaefer followed up with another goal off a free kick from McManus to give Northeastern a 2-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining in the match. Finally, senior Chelsea Domond sealed the Huskies fate with a third goal thanks to a through ball from newly converted defenseman, Megan Adams. At the end of the second half, Northeastern posted seven shots while Drexel posted zero. Angeline Friel made three total saves on the day in her 90 minutes of play. 

HUSKY HEROS
Chelsea Domond and Alexis Legowski have each notched three goals and one assist to lead Northeastern's offensive line with seven points apiece. Domond and Legowski each rank top-10 in the CAA in goals this season, while Domond also ranks second in shots on goal with 15. Mikenna McManus has earned four assists in the Huskies' nine total goals, ranking her sixth in the league. Northeastern's back line is guarded by goalkeeper Angeline Friel as she leads the entire league with five shutouts, including two conference matches. Friel tallied four shutouts in Northeastern's five victorious matches while making 37 saves, second most in the league.
 
CAA CHAMPIONSHIP
Northeastern has secured its 10th consecutive CAA tournament appearance, the longest streak among league members. The Huskies and the Seahawks will meet for the 17th time in their all-time series together with NU holding the series advantage of 10-6-0. Tomorrow's match marks the second time the Seahawks and Huskies have met in the CAA Championship since 2008. Led by Head Coach Ashley Phillips, she earns her fifth consecutive conference tournament appearance, including a conference championship in 2016 and a runner up finish in 2017. This is her ninth consecutive appearance since joining Northeastern women's soccer program as an assistant coach from 2010-2015.
