Spenser Smith each drove in runs to lead Northeastern (20-6, 8-0 CAA) to a 3-0 win over Towson (15-26, 5-4 CAA) in the opener of this Colonial Athletic Association series on Friday at Friedman Diamond. The Huskies have won 10 straight and continue to improve on their best start in CAA history.

Eric Yost entered the game in the eighth inning with two runners on and no outs, picking up two strikeouts and pitching out of the jam for the Huskies. RHP
Brandon Dufault came into the ninth to earn his third save of the season, striking out two. Costello, Holzwasser and Smith each had two hits for the Huskies, while Holzwasser extended his record-setting on-base streak to 44 games.
Northeastern pitchers fanned 12 Towson batters and scattered four hits. The Huskies finished with no errors for the fourth consecutive game and are 13-1 this season when committing zero errors.
After a scoreless first four innings, the Huskies broke through with a pair of runs in the fifth on a safety squeeze by Costello and a Holzwasser RBI single. Smith would drive in the game's final run with a single to left field as Northeastern remained perfect in CAA play.
The Huskies and Tigers will play a CAA doubleheader on Saturday at Friedman Diamond. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. and both games will be televised on NESN +.
