AMHERST, Mass. –
Jared Dupere popped his fifth of the season,
Ryan Cervone added a single-game career-high two hits and three RBIs, and
Scott Holzwasser extended his on-base streak to 35 games to lead Northeastern (11-6, 0-0 CAA) past UMass (7-13, 0-0 A-10) 11-1 for the fifth time this season and sixth overall. The Huskies have outscored the Minutemen 49-9 this season.
In the third, Holzwasser was hit by the pitch for the Northeastern record breaking 47
th time as Dupere would follow with a two-run shot to give the Huskies a 4-1 lead. He now has back-to-back games with home runs for the second time in his career.
Spenser Smith added a pair of RBIs, while
Teddy Beaudet,
Danny Crossen,
Kyle Peterson and
Corey DiLoreto all had one in the win.
Holzwasser, Dupere, DiLoreto and Costello each crossed the plate twice. Holzwasser also added three stolen bases and is now third in Northeastern history with 67.
David Stiehl started the game and struck out a season-high four over two innings on the way to his first win of the season. Northeastern used nine pitchers on the day.
The Huskies have won eight of their last 10 and get right back at it Friday with a four-game series on the road at Hofstra to open CAA play.
